The Alan Nekhay Foundation presents WE, a group exhibition bringing together artists from across generations whose practices and identities are deeply rooted in the cultures of the North Caucasus.
The exhibition’s title explores the fundamental nature of identity, suggesting that each of us is always a collective "WE." It highlights the inseparability of the personal and the collective, blending ancestral voices, cultural memory, and diverse roots into a single individual experience.
Showcasing painting, sculpture, works on paper, and multimedia, the exhibition forms an ensemble of autonomous artistic languages. Within this space, binary concepts like "us and them" or "insider and outsider" are dismantled, allowing complex, hybrid forms of solidarity and belonging to take root.
Ultimately, the exhibition invites the viewer to listen, to examine how we construct our understanding of the "other," and to reflect on their own position—uncovering the specific "WE" that stands behind their own "I."
The opening reception will feature a collective immersive experience, accompanied by an original soundtrack composed by Myst.
